Thai Ladyboys – Katoeys

I was looking for a screenshot from a satellite photo of world famous Thai ladyboy hangout – SOI KATOEY in Patong beach and before I got there I noticed that Google had mislabeled Soi Bangla as Bang Lane! It’s appropriate – yes, but I want to know how they came about that name. Weird huh?

Ok, still looking for a satellite photo of Soi Katoey. I hope someone has it. I can’t cruise around with Google Earth on my cell phone internet connection – it’s barely breathing enough to get me through posting on my blogs. It would die on GE.

Well, Thailand doesn’t let me get any closer than this – and Soi Katoey – which is not really a street at all, but an open area surrounded by bars on the right and left sides and a disco in the back isn’t labeled as such. The street running from the upper left down to the right in this google satellite photo is Soi Bangla and Soi Katoey is one of the small vertical lines running off it to the north. Bummer, I can’t access the labels for the map either – the ones that come with Google Earth. You know the ones that members can label buildings and things?
