Thai Ladyboys – Katoeys

How to tell if you are about to take a ladyboy home by accident? If you assign the following points to the the person in question you’ll come up with a total that will give you a reasonably objective measure of reality. Don’t use it when you’re drunk…

1. Man hands? Add 5 points.

2. Man feet? Add 3 points.

3. Big Larynx? Add 4 points. Medium larynx? (still too big) Add 3 points.

4. Big pinky fingernail? Add 5 points. I’ve yet to see a real girl with the 2 inch long pinky fingernail when the rest of the fingernails were shorter.

5. Beard stubble, arm stubble, hair growing out the ears? Add 51 points.

6. Too loud, too aggressive, too eager to get you in bed? Add 4 points.

7. Person in question is hanging around other katoeys? Women do, but usually they are pretty segregated at the bars. The girls don’t want others to think that they are a katoey. Add 4 points.

8. The length of the humerus bone from the elbow to the shoulder is abnormally short for a girl. Girls have longer ones than men do. If it’s shorter than you think it should be, add 3 points.

9. Listen to the voice. If the voice sounds like she ate squirrel for dinner add 40 points.

10. If you notice too much muscle definition and or tone (hardness of the muscles) or, the ‘girl’ is particularly veiny, then add 5 points.

11. If person is taller than 6 foot add 6 points. If taller than 5’10″ add 5 points. If taller than 5’7 add 3 points.

12. Wearing too much make-up? Add 4 points.

13. Dressed up VERY nicely? Overdressed… perhaps wearing a dress at the club? Add 10 points.

Now, add up your points… If you have more than

6 POINTS! I wouldn’t go home with her. Seriously. If the girl in question had any two of the above identifying criteria – she is more than likely a ladyboy. There’s a better than 50% chance in my book. Those aren’t great odds. Best find another target for the night. It’s not like you’re going to run out of opportunities. EVER.

Can you choose from a photo which is a ladyboy and which is a real girl? I’d say impossible.I thought I’d put up some photos and let you choose between them to identify Ladyboy or Lady. I know it’s difficult in a photo sometimes, but you wouldn’t believe that in person it is often VERY challenging.

The game gets good if you are out drinking and you haven’t seen ANY ladyboys (katoeys) the entire night… and then you strike up a conversation with a girl that you’re slowly getting into. You’re probably picturing taking her home, she’s quiet, nice, attractive, makeup… She is flirty and yet not coming on too strong.

She might have friends that are obviously girls and there is no question of that. That is where guys can get really fooled. I was fooled once in Isaan after exiting a club about 2am. I was milding flying on 100 Pipers whiskey but really not that badly that I was walking funny or mumbling. A girl called out to me from in front of me, “Hello, how did you enjoy the club?” I was taken aback, she was beautiful… small petite body, long curly hair to her waist… very little makeup or none – and just smiley and friendly.

She was a college student at the big university close by and I had never seen a university college student ladyboy (shemale) before and so it never struck me as a possibility. After we had exchanged numbers and I went to catch up with my friends that had all stopped and were looking at me and laughing… I asked, “What’s up?”

The old Thai guy, my fabulous friend that helped me do everything in Thailand possible told me that he was 98% sure the girl I was talking with, then openly flirting with in front of hundreds of people exiting the dance club, was a guy. A katoey.

I insisted 14 times that there wasn’t ANY possibility of that, and yet the more I insisted the more I rationally looked at my 60 year old Thai friend that had BEEN THERE – everywhere. This guy was on the ball about people. He knew people. I’d guess he knew katoeys from a good distance away too.

I resisted for about 3 days until I worked up the nerve to call her at her mobile number.

The MAN that answered the phone could NOT have been the girl that I talked to that night. Just COULDN’T have been…

And yet, I had to admit…

Ladyboy or real girl on the left in this photo?

Hmm, tough call, yes? If I had seen this photo in a magazine of movie stars, I wouldn’t think twice about this being a girl and her male friend. Thailand will throw you for a loop just when you think you’ve got it wired.

However, this is not a blog about girls – so I wanted to show you yet another ladyboy that is VERY passable as a girl. I just finished looking at the photo shoot of these two at the site listed in the lower right side of the photo (just add .com). In every photo – this appears to be a girl except for 1 obvious physical difference… which would become apparent as you browsed the photos.

If you checked the wrong box on the poll on the right hand side column, go ahead and change your answer…
