Ladyboy Happy Trail

I’ve gotta admit - when I see a little happy trail on a girl - you know that spot that goes from belly-button to the nether regions - it turns me on a little bit. I don’t know where that comes from - but I think it’s from the 70’s porn I used to look at as a child. I’d find balled up magazine pages in the woods or just about anywhere in my small town. Miss Noang has won 100K Thai baht as the grand prize and a new car, a Honda Jazz. The 2nd place finisher grabbed 40,000b cash and the 3rd place won 20,000b and some pats on the back.

Before the final votes were cast Nong Noang was asked this question:

“If you win the Miss Tiffany Universe 2008 contest, who is the first person you are going to meet the next morning, and what will you to say to that person?”. 

She said, she’d meet her parents first thing in the morning to thank them for giving birth to her and for always being there and supporting her throughout her life, for standing by her every decision.

Guess that was good enough for the judges!

I don’t go onto Myspace. EVER. I was flipping through some Google results and a ladyboy profile popped up from Myspace. So - against my better judgement I ventured to see what was up. Myspace is like the dumbed down “Friendster” or “Facebook” for dumb people who can’t make their own website or pay someone $100 to make 3 pages for a real site.

Myspace is like what the internet was before people calmed the hell down and stopped making web pages with animated gifs, flashing text, dancing lights and all that crud. At Myspace you can go back in time and see all that same shite again - at a much worse level AND you have to wait for your browser to load 16 megabytes from some idiot’s page that put 3 songs, 55 photos and 10 MB of movies to show the world because he/she didn’t know how to make a link and just put them all on the first page to load in full everytime someone visits the page.

God DAMNit I hate Myspace.

This was the first ladyboy I found there (and my last today because my patience ran out immediately).

WHY Does Thailand have so many Ladyboys?

I’ve written about this topic before, but I just saw a post at another blog about, “Why Does Thailand have so many Ladyboys?” and decided to write my ideas again in a more easily understood post. Hopefully.

Why Does Thailand have so many Ladyboys?

Gender role differentiation is not really all that different here. Kids growing up are left to do as they will. Some Thai boys play with dolls and play girls’ games. Some play with trucks. Some girls play with trucks. Usually the big difference is that the boys are left to do WHATEVER the hell they want. Thai boys do anything they wish. Rarely, so rarely have I ever heard the command - don’t, here in Thailand. Only when the kids might be in danger. Sometimes a Chinese Thai will be big on discipline, but it’s not the norm here. Boys are left to develop as they will then. There’s not this machismo that is so strong in American, Latin, and other cultures. In fact maybe I’ve NEVER seen a Thai guy act in a way I would consider macho or especially manly. You know?

Ladyboys make bank. They can make decent cash, more so than they would fixing motorbikes or living off their girlfriend. It’s a safe alternative to selling drugs and an easier alternative than going to the university and becoming a politician. Those guys make the most money. You know what I just realized? Are there NO women politicians in this country? I don’t think I’ve seen any.

To me - these are the two overriding reasons there are more ladyboys here in Thailand than other nations.

Anyone else have ideas on the subject?
