Prisoner still at large, search called off
UPDATED: At 11:30 p.m., lawmen quit looking for Eugene Smith (with PHOTOS)

HOLT — A prisoner escaped here Wednesday after pepper-spraying a Georgia deputy and stealing his patrol car, lawmen say.
After an eight-hour search, lawmen called off the effort.
Eugene Smith, a 33-year-old man who looks like a woman, was being taken from Texas to Crisp County, Ga., for a nonviolent crime, said Okaloosa County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Michele Nicholson.
During a restroom break at about 3:30 p.m. at Brown’s Grocery off Interstate 10, Smith “apparently sprayed the officer in the face, then took his patrol car” and headed west on Highway 90 toward Santa Rosa County, Nicholson said.
“A major search has been taking place in Santa Rosa County this afternoon after a prisoner overpowered a Crisp County Georgia Sheriff’s Deputy and stole the police vehicle,” Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Scott Haines said in a release.
Nicholson said the deputy fired shots at the car, but didn’t know if Smith was hit. Haines said one bullet struck the car’s windshield.

This caught my eye and I had to blog it. Thai ladyboys commit crimes, but they’re basically harmless at least compared to other ladyboys in America! This looks like a BIG Ladyboy, yes?
Here in Thailand the ladyboys will go through your pockets and maybe slip a roofie in your drink to rob you as you sleep. There have been rumors going around that a number of Thai katoeys are actually murdering tourists that come to Pattaya and Patong Beach - but, that’s speculation. There’s always been this idea that bar girls and katoeys were murdering tourists to Thaialand and doing it in a way that’s a bit mysterious. Makes it look like natural causes. Who knows. Probably happening to a small degree.
Watch yourself! Here’s an article about a foreigner living in Thailand that had a Thai girl and then started dating another - I think at the same time. The new ho brought her boyfriend over to his place and they stabbed the hell out of him to get him to open a safe he must have stupidly showed her at some point.
See the ho and her boyfriend actually smiling as they park the motorbike on the way up to the room to stab this guy to get his cash? Are they a couple of PSYCHOs or WHAT? Land of Smiles - they’re anticipating the cash I guess. This photo came from a security camera at the guy’s apartment complex.
Never never never NEVER let anyone know how much money you have here in Thailand. The mind gets to churning and eventually you end up dead because either the girl or ladyboy you’re banging gets greedy or her boyfriend or family does. The end result is same - you might end up dead over 50,000 baht. What’s that, $1,666 usd? Life is cheap here in the land of smiles. Be careful!
Two Iranians Beaten by a Girl and a Ladyboy at Pattaya Beach, Thailand
It’s gotta be embarrassing. Two guys - from any country, getting whooped by a chick and a guy that thinks he’s a chick (ladyboy). Would you let people (news photographers) take photos of you? I’m sure there’s a little more to this story than what you read here. Likely the guys had some short-time sex on the beach and something didn’t go smoothly - or, the two sex workers were just looking for a couple of easy marks.
It said the two men refused the services… and yet a cell phone, a camera and $100 in cash was taken during the fight. HOW? I think they gave it up to them - but, of course that’s allegedly.
Again for anyone that missed it… don’t pick up girls, ladyboys or men at the beach at night. The beach is a place where this sort of thing happens ALL THE TIME. EVERY SINGLE WEEK there is something in the local newspapers about it. BUT, that’s only what is published. There must be 10 incidents that happen for every one published. Again - a guess.

Two Iranian Tourists attacked by sex workers on Pattaya Beach.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Pongrit from Pattaya Police Station was called to Pattaya Beach opposite Soi Pattayaland 2 in the early hours of Sunday Morning to investigate an alleged assault on two Iranian Tourists. At the scene, Police spoke with the victims, Mr. Hossein Modirifav aged 26 and Mr. Iman Sharifi aged 21. Both men sustained injuries and evidence of the attack including a broken beer bottle, were seen nearby. The men explained that as they walked along the promenade, they were approached by a woman and a transsexual who offered the pair sexual services. The two men refused and were then set-upon. During the fight, a digital camera, mobile phone and 100 US Dollars were taken. Both men were sent to Hospital and later made a report of the incident at Pattaya Police Station. The Investigating Officer will attempt to apprehend the attackers in the coming days.

In the early hours of Monday Morning (2/4/08), Pattaya’s Tourist Police dealt with a case of suspected theft which occurred at the North End of Pattaya Beach Road. At the scene, Police were met by Mr. Lladimiri Ivanov aged 30 from Russia who explained that he had approached two transsexuals on the beach and invited them back to his room. As the two transsexuals approached Mr. Ivanov, one of them allegedly snatched a gold necklace from around Mr. Ivanov’s neck. As the pair attempted to escape on a motorbike, Mr. Ivanov gave chase and managed to detain the two transsexuals later named as Khun Tiragon aged 26 and Khun Chalermwoot aged 28. At the Police Station the two confessed to the theft and were locked up pending a court appearance.

Transsexual Class 1 suspected drug dealer arrested by Pattaya Police.
On Saturday Night, Pattaya Police Undercover Officers conducted an operation in front of the TN Apartments in Soi Gopai, South Pattaya. The target was a suspected drug dealer, Khun Sooparom aged 33. He was driving a bronze BMW which was also seized and taken into evidence. The operation netted 8.2g of Crystal Methamphetamine known in Thailand as “Ya Ice” contained in 7 bags. Khun Sooparom is now facing serious class 1 drugs charges which carry a lengthy custodial sentence if convicted of the crime in court.
I can’t think of a drug or any reason short of protecting someone I love - for going to jail for 30 years. I’d take up hare krishna if someone made me… I’d eat unripe birds in the half-shell. I’d drink my own… well, you get the idea.

Ladyboy Attack causes one Visitor to Pattaya to Swear Off Visiting
This guy had a bad experience - like many of us do if walking around where the ladyboys run the streets. There are a few places that I don’t particularly like to walk because I KNOW I’ll be accosted and hands trying to go through my pockets. I have come very close to belting a ladyboy in the mouth. Rather than go to jail and pay for reconstructive surgery to her/his face - I resisted everytime. I don’t blame someone that does it though. Ladyboys are men. Men going through your pockets. It is criminal, and it’s something that we as tourists shouldn’t let happen. A few aggressive ladyboy theives busted in the mouths might make for a better experience for hundreds of thousands of guys in Pattaya that this happens to on a yearly basis.

I am writing in response to a letter you published by Mr Michael Griller. I would just like to say to Mr Griller that whilst I have not studied the ladyboy situation in Pattaya, I have however experienced the harassment they can cause.I object to being attacked by one of these confused people as I simply make my way back to my hotel after a night out!
I was fortunate in that I managed to fend off this unprovoked attack, but it was not thanks to the watching baht-bus drivers and motorcycle taxi drivers who were close by and quite happy to watch it all happen.
Anyway that’s me finished with Pattaya, I will not be coming back here again. All the good memories I had of Thailand have been removed after this one incident, and I feel sorry for all the good people of Pattaya of which I know there are many who I will not have the pleasure of seeing in the future.

I’ve not had a bad experience in over a year, but I am not living anywhere near where the ladyboy thieves congregate - which is typically at the beaches in Pattay and Patong. During late night hours they are ravenous like wolves and will stalk guys walking alone! It’s happened to me MANY times in Patong and Pattaya!
Anyway - I’ll try to detail these crimes as they happen on this site as well as bring up more from the past that have happened. There’s been some good ones over the years.
